| Step back in time over4,000 years to listen to poetry and songs written before the birth of Christ. The literary power and message of an ancient culture; which speaks to us as though the ink, is yet to dry on the parchment it was written.
The album "Shi Jing: Ancient Book of Songs," is the result of several years spent reading through ancient text, learning the styles of traditional Chinese music, conducting New Moon Orchestra, and ultimately recording the amazing material.
10 pieces were selected from the ancient text which formed the basis for the project. The music for "Shi Jing: Ancient Book of Songs" mixes ancient Chinese and modern Western instruments. In creating this album, it was important to Donohoe to make the music and poetry approachable to today's audience while respecting the message penned thousands of years ago.
